Psychologist, VA Police Evaluations (Part Time)
Pre-employment and annual psychological evaluations for VA police officers at the Richmond VA Medical Center; about 46 evaluations a year, some in person.
Provide fitness-for-duty psychological evaluations for the VA Police at the Richmond VA Medical Center: about 15 pre-employment assessments for new hires and 31 annual assessments for incumbent officers each year. Some evaluations must be done in person.
What you will do
- Conduct pre-employment psychological evaluations of police officer candidates.
- Conduct annual psychological evaluations of incumbent officers.
- Administer and interpret standardized instruments appropriate to public-safety screening.
- Write evaluation reports and suitability determinations to VA standards.
- Coordinate scheduling with the VA Police administrative officer.
What you need
- Doctoral degree in psychology (PhD or PsyD) and a current, full and unrestricted license in any U.S. state; Virginia preferred.
- Experience with police or public-safety pre-employment or fitness-for-duty evaluations.
- Able to conduct in-person evaluations in Richmond, VA.
- Able to pass a VA background investigation.
Nice to have
- ABPP in police and public safety psychology.
- Experience with VA or federal law enforcement evaluations.
Pay and schedule
- Pay: per evaluation; discussed at screening.
- Schedule: part time, as scheduled; about 46 evaluations per year.
- Where: Richmond VA Medical Center, Richmond, VA; some evaluations may be remote.
- Type: independent contractor (1099).
