Health Economist (Remote)
Run a 12-month health economics study for the Indian Health Service: cost analysis, scenario economics and a make-or-buy model for service-area adequacy and referral networks.
10XG is proposing a Health Economist for an Indian Health Service study of service-area adequacy and referral-network accessibility. We are selecting the economist now; work begins after award.
What you will do
- Build the work plan and analytic framework for the study.
- Characterize demand and build the cost taxonomy for IHS direct care and Purchased/Referred Care.
- Model scenario economics and make-or-buy decisions, with an interim prioritization memorandum.
- Deliver draft and final economic decision-support packages and monthly status reports.
- Transition all models, workbooks, code and documentation to Government staff at the end of the period.
What you need
- Master's degree in health economics, economics, public health or a related field with substantial relevant experience; doctorate preferred.
- Five or more years of demonstrated work in health economics, cost analysis, budget impact analysis or decision-analytic modeling.
- Strong modeling skills (Excel plus R, Python or Stata) and clear written deliverables.
- U.S.-based and available 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Eastern on weekdays.
Nice to have
- Indian Health Service, tribal health or other federal health program experience.
- Experience with referral-network or purchased-care economics.
Pay and schedule
- Pay: discussed at screening; one all-in rate.
- Schedule: virtual, core hours 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Eastern, Monday to Friday; 12-month base period with four option years.
- Where: remote (U.S.).
- Type: full time; W-2 or independent contractor by agreement.
